Central Park bicycle track, which was built by the Bay City Wheelmen, was turned over to the confederation of clubs, which organized under the name of the San Francisco Bicycle Track Association. The others of the association are: President, F. H. Kerrigan, B. C. W.; Vice-President. E. C. Douglass, I. C. C.; Secretary, S. G. Scovern, O. C. W.; Treasurer, J. W. Mullen. O. C. W. Captain Simms of the Y. M. C. A. Cycling Club was present and spoke for his club, The S. F. B. T. A. meets again February 13th. The bicycle track will be ready to train on by Friday.
At a meeting held at the clubhouse of the Bay City Wheelmen last Tuesday evening, it was decided to organize an association for the maintenance of the track at Central Park. Committees from the Olympic Club Wheelmen, California Cycling Club, Imperial Cycling Club and the Bay City Wheelmen met and organized the San Francisco Bicycle Track Association. The officers elected were: President, F. H. Kerrigan, B. C. W.; vice-president, E. C. Douglass, I. C. C.; secretary, S. G. Scovern, O. C. W.; treasurer, J. W. Mullen, O. C. W. It was reported that the different dealers would stand their proportion of the expense. The track will be in rideable condition tomorrow. Another meeting of the committee is to be held the 13th prox.
Next Wednesday night the San Francisco Bicycle Track Association will hold another meeting, at the rooms of the Bay City Wheelmen. There is considerable business to be transacted, and all club delegates are requested to be present.
THE WHEEL. - The San Francisco Call, 10 Feb 1895
The San Francisco Bicycle Track Association's five lap cement track is now in riding condition and the members of the clubs belonging to the association are entitled to free use of the same. Members must obtain tickets from their club secretary otherwise they will be refused admittance.
The San Francisco Bicycle Track Association will meet next Friday evening at the rooms of the Young Men's Christian Association. There is still some talk of the association holding a race meet at Central Park, to increase its treasury if possible. The meet could be held on a Saturday afternoon and would probably be successful.
The meeting for the permanent organization of the San Francisco Track Association, called for last night at the clubhouse of the Bay City Wheelmen, failed to take place, owing to the fact that the organization has no apparent reason for existence. The track is now being run by its owners and the clubs have no jurisdiction over it whatever.
